My creative impulse has to do with charting and meandering through topography trying to locate inscrutable ground. I make abstract paintings, digital frescos, works on paper and videos.
The work is microcosmic and macrocosmic. My point of view hovers between immersion and detachment. Compression algorithms leave their artifacts. The synthetic mark is also my mark. Lines of glaciation are drawings. Analog processes reveal my hand. Computers and surveillance equipment are in my studio toolkit alongside brushes and paint. I am drawn to technology and its potential to evoke communication.
