Liminal Skin series

2009 12" x 12" digital frescos

With this body of work I am interested in our perception of the transitional area between the corporeal and the geographic. Where does the body end and the landscape begin? And how does time mark both? As it ages and decays the scarring and marking of the body is reflected in the terrestrial scars. Skin and hair fuse with rivers and rock - where the scars represent a moment marked in passing time. The elements are interwoven and layered as a collage of iterations of saved images thus creating a sort of digital pentimento. The impermanent digital image is fixed into a fresco.
